正如你所知道的那樣，《This Note's for You》是加拿大裔美國音樂人 Neil Young 的第 18 張錄音室專輯，於 1988 年 4 月 11 日由復興唱片（Reprise）發行，距離今天已經 38 年。

這一年，1988年，Young 回歸 Reprise Records（他巔峰時期的廠牌），並組建了The Bluenotes——一支10人編制的R&B樂隊，包含6人銅管樂段，樂隊名字The Bluenotes後因Harold Melvin（R&B組合Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes創始人）的法律訴訟而被迫改為"Ten Men Workin'"。

在同名主體曲「This Note's for You」里 Neil Young 寫到

"Ain't singing for Pepsi
Ain't singing for Coke
I don't sing for Budweiser
I don't sing for Miller
Don't sing for nobody
Makes me look like a killer"

當時的商業壞境是 The Rolling Stones 為Jovan香水代言，Eric Clapton、Steve Winwood 為啤酒做廣告，Michael Jackson 與Pepsi簽約1500萬美元。而這首歌的 MTV 當時爭議非常大， 因為導演Julien Temple 惡搞了Michelob、Budweiser、Calvin Klein廣告。

這張專輯是Neil Young1980年代實驗期的終點。一年後，他發行《Freedom》（1989），開啓自1970年代末以來最富創造力的時期。
